Basic Cooking Instructions: Stovetop: Rinse beans before cooking; do not soak. Place 1 cup beans in a large pot with 3 cups water and 1 tsp salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover and cook until tender, 40-45 minutes. Beans will begin to break apart as they cook. Overcooking may result in mushy beans. Makes 4 servings (about 2-1/4 cups). Note: Pre-soaking, slow or pressure cooking is not recommended, unless a specific recipe requests it. Store in a cool, dry place. Beans are natural agricultural products. Despite use of modern agricultural equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort and rinse before cooking.
